Everyone knows the quality of a Paul Reed Smith guitar...from the craftsmanship and beauty to the unmatched tone Paul has created with his pickups, bridges, and circuitry. So you know what a core model is, the Custom 24, Custom 22, the SC245, etc., but if you haven't seen or played a PRS Private Stock, you may be missing out on one of the true gems in life.
When you talk about Private Stock Guitars from Paul Reed Smith, you are talking about the best of the best...the care and thought that goes into each of these "one-off" guitars is astounding. The luthiers that build these instruments are the masters that have proven themselves in the PRS factory. They are craftsmen that have been noticed for knowing the finer points of guitar making and genuinely care about the end result...the perfect guitar.
While building a PRS Private Stock, you can build almost whatever you want. You start with a model, i.e. Custom 24 or P24, then you start choosing woods for top, back, neck, fingerboard, so on and so forth. Then you start talking about custom electronics and there truly is no limit to what you can do. They will order pickups from pickup manufacturers, put a Floyd Rose on almost any model, and on and on and on. Then the fun part begins, designing inlays, purflings, bindings, and headstock artwork. We have some really cool ideas for some new models that are being built for us right now at the factory that have never been done before. Check back later to see those!
