Review of Taylor 314CE by Ed Sein

by Ed Sein on October 15, 2015

American made Taylor guitars start at the 300 series, and the 314ce delivers the perfect blend of clarity, high-end articulation, warmth and sustain that is characteristic of Taylor guitars. The 314ce creates a wide tonal sound scape with a solid, Sitka spruce top and sepele back and sides. The medium-sized Grand Auditorium body style features a Venetian cutaway, and when played, I was thrilled to hear that this guitar doesn’t exhibit any of the nasally, mid-range honkiness that can be characteristic of smaller body guitars.

The 314ce features a mahogany neck, ebony fretboard and bridge pins. The ES2 electronics package faithfully reproduces the tonal qualities of all Taylor guitars. It’s responsive to finger picking as well as flat picking, and this dynamic guitar will accommodate any playing style, making you want to play and practice more and more. The 314ce comes with a hard-shell case and at $1799.00 is well worth the investment.
